Nurnberg Zoo

Welcome to the zoo....

This is the first ever gorilla that either john or I had ever seen in real life...as opposed to a gorilla documentary. Two things surprised me. 1. Its lots smaller than I imagined and 2. how sad I got when it kept looking through the bars to its little zoo home like it wanted to just have all those crazy staring people leave him alone. I realized all those gorilla documentaries did their work on me. :(

Do you know what a giraffe says? Haaaaaaaaaaaah. Thats right..they expell air from their throats. It just may be bella's first word since we love her little hand puppet giraffe.

These crazy monkeys were just hanging above the walkway. They were free to roam about above the heads of the people at the zoo...it led to a little island surrounded by a moat...it was very fun to watch them play.

I'm not sure what animal this is...but its a pretty one wouldn't you say?

Errr....this thing is nearing my toes...if I stare at it hard enough it will leave me alone.

One kid feeding another...aren't they cute?

Her favorite animal...

Bella grew horns!

This rhino was pretty cool. He was soaking in the big pool they had and then the other rhino was beating its head against a wall...smart rhino.....dumb rhino....

The symbol that reminds us of America...and cousin Johnnie. We actually took this picture for him. I put up the only one that didn't have bits of feather and meat stuck to its beak as we caught it at dinner time. Ugh.

PENGUINS! Every body do the happy feet dance...

Still doing the happy feet dance....dance...dance....dance....

Uhm...hello Mr. Polar Bear. You are big and I am just a wittle girl but yes, I'm dangling my toesies on the glass to tempt you...

Hedgehog! Maddie spotted this treasure as we were walking along. It was in the forest and John chased it, scared it half to death and it played dead...until he reached his hand out and the quills came popping out. So, we took a couple of photos and let him believe he escaped the master interrogator...that would be Mr. Chucklehead to you all... for one more day...

How lucky to see the polar bears in action! They've always been snoozing at our nearest zoo.
Wonderful day and memories!
